Nov 20New Warhammer Scenery

tower
In the previous edition Warhammer players have rarely had to worry much about terrain. A typical set-up might include a couple of hills, a wood, and maybe a building or two, and very little else. The effect of terrain was very limited – it either blocked movement, or gave a place for Skirmishers to lurk, or provided a nice shooting platform for artillery and missile troops.  That all changes with the new edition of the rules. Terrain is going to become something that is much more common on Warhammer battlefields, and its effects are much more varied, unpredictable, and interactive.
The effect of these rules is to make terrain much more tactically challenging. Terrain is something you need to learn how to use to your advantage, rather than simply avoid or use to block off a section of the battlefield. As time goes along you are likely to see more and more terrain on Warhammer battlefields, and a successful general is going to have to know how to exploit it effectively in order to win.  (Extract taken from GW’s guide to the new rules!)
