Name of the Wind – back at Mk1

I can trace the path of recent great fantasy finds from chats with customers about their favourite reads. In this case a recommendation from me of George RR Martin’s Game of Thrones novels was swapped for a glowing review of Joe Abercrombie’s The First Law trilogy. Scott Lynch’s very, very cool Lies of Locke Lamora led to Patrick Rothfuss’ The Name of the Wind. Where did I go to after that?… I found Brent Weeks’ Night Angel trilogy all by myself… I’ve loosely grouped these author’s under the “MK1 favourite Writers” banner – and will create a tag declaring such when I have more than one post up on the new site! So where to next? By my workings it’s your turn – suggestions please..
Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
THE POWERFUL DEBUT NOVEL FROM FANTASY’S NEXT SUPERSTAR.
Told in Kvothe’s own voice, this is the tale of the magically gifted young man who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen. The intimate narrative of his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, his years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-ridden city, his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, and his life as a fugitive after the murder of a king form a gripping coming-of-age story unrivaled in recent literature. A high-action story written with a poet’s hand, The Name of the Wind is a masterpiece that will transport readers into the body and mind of a wizard. 722 page softcover novel Mk1 Price $19.90
