May 5I Survived Free Comic Book Day!

Free Comic Book Day 2010 026

Free Comic Book Day is over.. and what a day it was.  It’s getting bigger and better every year – but this year’s response from comic fans (and fans to be!) was a sight to behold.  I have a long list of people to thank for helping on the day and with the preparation ahead of it – a big tip of the MK1 hat to Scott and Jack, Katie, James, Mum, Dad, Mark, Simon, Josh, to all the out of towners who made the trip and to our regular Mk1 supporters who spread the word far and wide – THANK YOU!  Rach and I are well pleased with the support and appreciation for Mk1′s big day – looking forward to the next one!   There’s a few pictures on this page all the rest are on our new Facebook page – here’s the link.

I’m doing the orders for our second chance Saturday this week – date to be announced in the next newsletter. I hope to tie it to the Avengers Day party – coming up late May 2010.  Second Chance Saturday is where we reoffer the best received titles for those who missed out, or want an extra choice.  This time they are tied to a purchase (doesn’t have to be a big one – it can be a comic from our dollar bins or the $2.00 Comics Greatest Hits stand).  If you want to make sure I reorder something you want best you let me know by checking out the cover gallery here. Mail Order customers can grab free comics with their next orders – I’ll announce a link to the revised cover gallery after I have purchased and received the titles.
Looks like Wednesday will be the new newsletter day – its equal distance between the last Comic delivery and the next delivery works out the best for me…  Next week should see the resumption of our popular weekly specials!  Looking ahead the shop’s focus is about to shift to the Winter Board Game season – lots of new titles on the way to the shop to play and talk about.  First arrival is the epic Horus Heresy board game from Fantasy Flight Games – on shelf now.
